The Test Lab Brewery is a micro brewery situated on a lifestyle block in Halswell.
Focusing on a core range of popular styles, we occasionally push the boat out and create something a bit different.

There we were running a bar in Nelson and brewing our own beer, and we realised we (really) liked the brewing aspect.
We loved making the beers, the customers loved our beers, we loved telling them about our beers, and one day we thought… you know what? I think we’re brewers, not bar owners!
So, we loaded up the truck and moved to Christchurch, and built our very own brewery in Halswell.
Anyway, that’s the cover story that we tell the government.
The truth is one night Nige was bitten by a radioactive beer coaster. That’s a person from the West Coast who likes beer and uranium.
Anyway, they bit Nige and he started to transform into ‘The Prof’ - a supercrafting mad professor who creates experimental beers in his secret underground bunker.
We moved to Christchurch because the UFOs find it easier to land there. It’s a long story - it’s all jotted down in our lab notes. Read them when you have a moment.
